"Our Future" is a supergraphic located outside Coastal Carolina University's Edwards Building. It enhances the outdoor as well as the indoor space by highlighting the academic building with the icons. It aims to represent and encourage African-American students to be involved in the arts and know that they can be successful. It shows this through the use of black history month colors as well as showing two student figures within the supergraphic.
Through extensive research of the university's history, I noticed the lack of recognition of African-American figures who had a part in transforming and creating the Edwards Fine Arts building we know today. This research was pivotal in guiding my design to be able to encourage more African Americans to take part in the arts, as well as contribute back to the schools to pave the way and inspire incoming generations of students.
